I was able to talk to Jimmy about the incident where he was helping his mother to bed when she fell. The incident has been in the position to torture him as he feels like he is losing his patience and also being exploited. He was able to tell me about his relationship with his mother. He can show that the relationship with his mother has been good but as time moved on the demands of his mother started to increase and this meant that he would have to spend more time with her. This made him be in the position to start feeling bored as the environment around him was now becoming unconducive. He was not able to adapt positively to the environment around him even though he joined a young caregiver assoc iation. I was able to know the biggest issue with him was the fact that his mother was so dependent in the sense that he didnt have time for himself. The use of the theory was able to help him be in the position to start understanding his environment and also be able to improve his relationship with his mother (Feintuch, Saeks, 2012). Strengths and Limitations of System Theory The theory should be able to help an individuals to understand the kind of environment they are operating in. This will facilitate them to understand their clients or the people under their care. This helps to understand those who need their help whenever there are issues with them. On the other hand, the theory has limitations that makes it inapplicable. First, system theory is time-consuming. This is in the sense that, takes an individual a longer period so that they get used to and also learn and adapt to the surrounding environment. Psychodynamic Theory It is a theory that deals with the psychology of an individual. It explains the personality of a person regarding conscious desires and beliefs (Higdon, 2013). The Root of Ethnic Discrimination at Wounded Knee essays In December of 1890, some 300 Lakota Indians, led by Chief Spotted Elk, took up an encampment in the area we now know as Wounded Knee, South Dakota. While they were resting, a larger group of U.S. soldiers surrounded the Indians. A single shot was fired from the soldiers, sparking a string of unprecedented fire from the troops. When the rain of ammunition ceased, over 300 Lakota Indians laid dead from gunfire, cannon fire or manual butchering from the soldiers. For four days, the dead laid where they were, frozen in the cold winter snow and air. The soldiers came back on that fourth day and loaded the dead in wagons and hauled them to mass graves. Following this incident, 27 Congressional Medals of Honor for bravery were awarded to several of the soldiers who participated in the massacre at Wounded Knee. Eighty-three years later, on February 27, 1973, a large group of armed Native Americans reclaimed Wounded Knee in the name of the Lakota Nation. For the first time in over a century, those Oglala Sioux ruled themselves, free from government intervention. The federal government found out about the militant movement and surrounded the group of Native Americans at Wounded Knee. Forces inside Wounded Knee demanded an investigation into misuse of tribal funds, as well as an investigation into the BIA and the Department of the Interior regarding their handling of the affairs of the Oglala Sioux tribe. The warriors also demanded an investigation into the 371 treaties between the Native Nations and government, all of which had been broken by the U.S. The warriors held fast to these demands and refused to lay down arms until they were met. In turn, the government cut off the electricity to Wounded Knee and attempted to keep all food supplies from entering the area.
